Making the decision(s)

So, I'm heading out in the fall. I'm totally excited and totally terrified. I haven't completely decided where yet, but I did turn down a position in Zanzibar because I couldn't go immediately. That's the problem with this time around, I don't have some distant date in the future I'm working towards; I'm aiming at leaving middle of October this time. And that's only two months to plan, save, and whittle down my stuff to two totes.

But it took going back to Utila for a week to remind me that I really need to get my butt in gear. If I keep staying here "saving up"... well I've been here for two years - surely I should have saved up by now!

So, it's either the Caribbean or Thailand. I have a maybe offer with a resort dive shop for the Caribbean - they will let me know what openings they have closer to my available date to go down. Or I fly to Thailand with a few contacts from a friend and hope for the best. Thailand is my top choice, but the thought of going there with nothing is pretty scary.

In the meantime I'm going to continue to beat the dead horse that is the PADI employment board!

Countdown Begins

Once upon a time, I taught diving in Paradise, also known as Utila, Islas de Bahia, Honduras. Since then, I've been back at the 9-5 grind in D.C. But no more! Today is the beginning of the next adventure, well... at least the planning stages of the next adventure! I plan to head out again at the end of this year, beginning of 2012. So in the meantime, I'll chronicle my previous adventures, and my search for the best MDST program and preparation for a year in Australia.

*Mostly, these initial entries will be to get my into the habit of blogging regularly, and my motivation to kick saving into high gear so I can be on my sooner rather later.
